Why is My Bosch Refrigerator Not Cold?

A refrigerator is a process of removing heat from a confined space.

A refrigerator removes the heat from its compartment by absorbing heat and transferring it to the surrounding air, which then cools it.

A Bosch fridge achieves this through an airtight seal when the door is closed and a fan that cools the air before sending it back into the fridge.

If your Bosch refrigerator is not cooling, the chances are that something has gone wrong with this process.

There could be a problem with your cooling system, either because there’s no power going to the freezer or because of some other problem elsewhere in your house.

There could also be an issue with how cold you have set your temperature control dial.

Moreover, your Bosch refrigerator may not be cold because the freezer compartment is not working.

Before your refrigerator operates correctly, it must be below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

If your freezer is working but has not been below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, your food may have gone bad, and you should throw away the food in the freezer.

Conclusion:

Bosch is one of the most reliable brands for refrigerators. However, there are cases where the refrigerator stops working or doesn’t work as efficiently as it should.

Bosch manufactures the best refrigerators, and with a little care, they can last a long time. If you’re not sure if your Bosch should be serviced, then here are some indications that might help you decide:

  • It takes too long for ice to form in the freezer
  • The refrigerator is noisy
  • It’s not cooling enough
  • Ice cubes are frosted on top

  3. I have had the Bosch fridge/freezer for 2 mos. I have tried to get used to the horrible high pitched noise. An engineer came and said it was the compressor. Surely something can be done about this. The engineer suggested I get in touch with the wholesaler but this is YOUR problem and I would like it put right A.S.A.P. please. I have always bought Bosch but never again. Valerie Clark

  5. Aloha, my Bosch 800 series has recently been really uneven in cooling( it’s only a couple years old). I have it set at 39 degrees (any warmer food spoils in it), and at that temperature, anything at the back of the refrigerator gets frozen (and ruined like greens, fruits, veges)…it happens in the drawers and throughout the fridge. Please help! It’s the 24” long one so I already don’t have much space to be able to keep everything in the front…

  6. Every time I open my “brand” new Bosch refrigerator I have to towel off the shelves as condensation has formed on them. Whenever I called regarding this I don’t get any answers. They sent someone out and his answer was “dah”. The person on the phone suggested that the drain in back of the bin maybe clogged (new refrigerator) but the repair man didn’t seem to know where it was located and of course did nothing. People have asked me how I like my “new and expensive” refrigerator what should I say, I DON’T.

  9. Bought the Bosch 800 fridge in April of 2019 along with a Bosch double oven and dishwasher. Over $7000 for the package. The Feron has leaked out and the fridge and freezer no longer cools. Paid approx $3000 new and repair person stated it would be approximately $1200-$2000 if the leak is accessible and could be fixed. NO warranty on parts just labor. Cost me $210 just to get this information.
Now I am in the market for a new fridge and it won’t be Bosch even if the new fridge won’t match the other Bosch appliances. SO disappointed in Bosch.

  12. Which models did you review & the year model? About to purchase a French Door 800 services, however-
Our ELECTROLUX refrig/freezer has caused a huge problem for the health of at least two family members- throat irritated & daughter with bite-like bumps on her hands/ arms caused by rust/ mold from frozen water dispenser that just stopped working!!! I have felt tired and like I was catching a cold in my throat and ears for months now off & on – depending how much time I spent in the kitchen/ family room!
A large ICE BLOCK is adhered to the outside back of the appliance with rust marks running down and surrounding it! The sheetrock near bottom and floor are covered with rust, like a fine dust and apparently mold under the hardwood floor!!! I do have pictures! It looks like a dead RUSTY and WHITE ICE animal clinging to the back of the refrigerator/freezer!!
Appliance repair person said he’d let the company know . They called today telling us it was over the 5 year warranty date, so they couldn’t help us!

THIS NEEDS YOUR REVIEW! The repair person has seen this before from Electrolux refrigerators!!!

Is the 800-series French door counter depth refrigerator made by Bosch one you would buy??? Are there maintenance things we must do throughout the ownership of a refrigerator, that require checking the back of it???
We need to make a quick decision, knowing many appliances are is short supply. Appreciating an honest reply from you, thank you!

    • Hi Mike,

I hope you are doing great!
This is caused by a setting on your refrigerator called “Door Delay”. You should adjust this setting so that the light goes out after the door has been closed and unopened for 20 minutes.

    • Hi Jennifer,

I hope you are doing great!
The first thing you must do is remove all of the items that were in the bottom drawer. You can then clean up any spills or water that formed on the floor. Then, open the freezer door to allow it to dry out for a few hours, and finally let it defrost.
