Ego Lawn Mower Reviews

EGO Lawn Mower is manufactured by EGO power plus, which is a sub-brand of company Chevron. Chevron is a Chinese company established in 1993.

This company produces 10 million units every year and sells in 65 countries worldwide. The EGO power plus was introduced by Chevron in 2014.

It is one of the top-rated brands in cordless outdoor electrical appliances. These lawnmowers are powered by 56V rechargeable lithium batteries.

EGO lawnmowers have the maneuverability of a gas lawnmower and the environmental friendliness of a corded electric mower.

But one thing necessary for you to consider is that EGO lawn mowers are a bit more pricy. Moreover, the motor is less powerful than gasoline-powered lawnmowers.

EGO Lawn Mower Features

EGO lawn mowers are equipped with a variety of modern and advanced features.

Following are the most considerable features of Ego lawn mower, you should know before buying:

1. 56V ARC Lithium Battery

Drawbacks of EGO Lawn Mower

Despite having distinct features, EGO lawn mowers also have some drawbacks; you need to know, before buying one:

1. Battery Timing

The battery lifespan of EGO lawnmowers is slightly less than expected. Even though it is about 60 minutes in total, yards are usually big enough for a 60-minute battery runtime.

So, a battery-operated lawnmower might not be a better choice for you if you have a fairly large lawn.

2. Less Powerful

While buying a lawn mower, you must be aware of its torque rating. The torque rating is the driving force behind blade rotational movement.

EGO lawn mowers have comparatively less torque rating than traditional gasoline-dependant lawn mowers. Resultantly, Ego lawnmowers are less powerful than gas lawnmowers.

3. Difficult to Clean

The problem of difficulty in cleaning does not occur with traditional lawn mowers because you can just hose it off.

However, hosing is not recommended for EGO or any other electric lawn mower. You can clean it by wiping it with soapy water.

4. Exposed Charger Terminals

The charger has an exposed terminal that connects with the battery while charging.

  1. My EGO push mower has been reliable, quiet, low vibration, and a joy to use. I’m glad I switched from gasoline. With oil changes and refueling the gas mower was a smelly dirty noisy monster. It’s interesting that they rate the EGO power as lower than gas, because it’s powered through clumps that would have stalled my gas mower.
On the other hand, the new EGO ZTR riding mower I just bought is in the shop. Lowes sent me a dirty rusty hulk for my $5000 (yeah, it’s expensive). I sent that one back. The next one ran great for three cuttings and then just stopped. Between my 5-year old gas mower dying, and waiting for 5-weeks for diagnosis and finally last rites, then awaiting delivery, pick-up, and redelivery from Lowes, and now sending it back again, I’ve been hand mowing my acre for most of the summer.

  2. Purchased a top of the line EGO Electric mower from Lowe’s. Had it for 30 days and did 4 mowings and returned it. Here is the run down: Mower looks great and mows pretty good. Now here are the pitfalls I run into. Can’t mow when the grass is damp or it will severely clog up with grass, the self propelled sensor has a mind of its own and when you try to turn a corner the mower will jump and hop around. The way around it you have to lift the front end up then turn or back up a step.{ Needs some serious engineering there } Mower is almost as loud as my gas mower. After finishing mowing the lawn then I have to clean and vacuum the inside of the battery compartment to get out all the grass clippings which they failed to make a good seal to keep clippings out. I would say that the plastic housing will eventually crack and break over a few years instead of using a aluminum housing. As for claiming that the electric one has more power than the gas one is not true and I can prove it. I am all for going electric but I think that they tried to put the cart before the horse instead of doing more engineering. The $1100 that I spent on the mower was not worth it so instead
I went back and bought a gas Honda for the same price.
I have been mowing lawns for 30 years so I think I know
a little bit about lawns and mowers.

  3. I love my ego string trimmer, but my mower has been a nightmare. I’ve been mowing my lawn with my EGO weed eater since my mower has been in and out of the shop with the exception of one day since early August of 2022, before returning it the following day to the repair shop it is now It is now October 27th 2022 and I got my mower back. Guess what… It randomly shuts off while mowing. At least the mower blade break works, and the status lights and head lights are not flickering like a 1970’s disco. The wire harness and the power head has been replaced. I gave up my 20-year-old Honda Harmony to use a low-emission mower. Well, it certainly has low emissions if it doesn’t run. I need a replacement mower, not another repair shop experience.

  4. Avoid EGO mowers. I bought mine in April. The self-propel stopped working in mid-August. I took it to their “authorized repair facility” five weeks ago and haven’t seen it since. I have doubts they will ever fix it. Poor quality. Terrible customer service. I wasted my money.

  5. My eco self propelled mower quits while mowing with lights still on the battery, it usually takes 3-4 minutes then starts again with it dying again what I’ve read in your reviews it’s a problem

  6. The worst customer support! I have been without a mower for 5 weeks now because the self propelled feature stopped working. I took it to a designated EGO service center 1 hour from my home, per EGO customer support recommendation. The sensor was supposedly bad, but after a new sensor was sent, it did not fix the problem. EGO said they will send me a new mower and battery. Now, after 5 weeks they tell me the mowers are on back order. I requested they give me a voucher and I will go to my local ACE hardware and buy a new mower, but they can’t do that. I have spent over 4 hours on the phone with support, always talking to a new person and explaining my problem again and again. The EGO service provider I took the mower to also has had multiple calls with EGO. They said they are no longer going to work with EGO because their customer support is so poor. At this time I just want my money back so I can buy a Honda gas mower, but of course I was told by EGO they they can’t issue a refund.

  7. I made the mistake of buying one of these mowers, LM2102sp. First year was ok, but felt it really was not powerful enough to draw the grass up to give a good cut.

This year, about a month into grass cutting season, my problem began. I get an orange light that comes on and the mower quits. Problem is, the motor or the electronics overheat. Called EGO and after performing a no-load test on the battery, they will cover it and fix under warranty.

This morning I spoke to the company I have to go to. He has one guy working part-time on these mowers and has about 15 or 20 EGO mowers and trimmers ahead of me . Plus he also sells Sthil products and must repair their machines first. He also said it depends on what they find wrong with it and how long it takes to get the parts. In a nutshell, if I decide to take this mower in to be fixed, your guess is as good as mine as to when I get it back.

Sorry, but I feel like I just walked into a $600 ripoff. More than likely, I’ll be forced to go buy a new mower and use the EGO as a garage ornament, whenever I get it back.

  8. I have a lm2100 and the battery lasted less than a year. I called the number for warrantee and was placed on hold for about 10minutes, so I left my number and they called back about 30minutes later. The agent was polite, but refused to replace or repair the battery without a receipt even knowing the battery was well within the required period. I don’t keep receipts forever and I think most people don’t. They know this and use this as an excuse to not support the product. The lawn mower was pretty good. By the way, my lawn is small. It takes 12 minutes to cut. The battery was never stressed. A replacement costs about $200. I’m going to throw it out and move on.

  9. yOU ARE NOT ADDRESSING THE PROBLEMS. vERY POOR BAGGING AND THE SIDE EJECTION DOESN’T WORK. Clumping even with the bag. The lawn needs to be cut twice for a clean lawn. I would NOT reccommend this product
