My Whirlpool fridge purchased three years ago is a plastic piece of crap. The side door shelves fall off dumping their contents on the floor at the lightest brush. It happens several times a month. The unit was completely rebuilt on extended warranty 8 months ago for not maintaining temperatures and not making ice. (Legit problem with the fridge). Its not working again now (same problem) and the technician who came over blamed us for not understanding how to close a refrigerator door. I guess that means that I'm too stupid to understand how door shelves work as well. Anyway, you'd think the temperature and door alarm would help, but apparently, only sometimes so they can't be counted on. The tech demonstrated how he could leave the door ajar and not set off the alarm. It was easy. Then, he made it clear that as stupid little girls, we were at fault (I'm 57 and my wife is 56. The tech was maybe 40). I thought our lifetime experience successfully shutting refrigerator doors meant we knew what we were doing, but apparently not. The reality here is that manufacturers now design for failure and positive write ups like this about product quality are a joke. The unit is design to fail at the most opportune time to result in the consumer buying more refrigerators. The more the better - right? Right. I get it. More money for Whirlpool and the elites who think up these scams.

I bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator from Lowe's less than three years ago, and the ice maker on it hasn't worked for months, I just got it diagnosed and it will be $433 to have it fixed. When paying this kind of money for a new appliance, this is just shoddy workmanship. Not recommending whirlpool!
